4 Reasons to Grind a Stump

Stump GrinderAfter removing a tree, there will be a stump left over. This stump may not seem like a big deal, but it really is. A stump may cause more issues than you realize. There are a number of reasons that you will need to consider before you simply leave stump in your yard.

  1. Safety

As a tree service company, we put safety first. We know how important it is to keep our teams and your family safe. Having an ungrinded stump in your yard is a serious hazard, especially if you have children in your home. An ungrinded stump may be hidden by grass, so it is very hard for people to see. A child could be running around the yard, trip over the stump and seriously injure himself or herself. If the child is not yours (a friend of your child), you could be liable for the injury, because the injury happened on your property.

  2. Aesthetics

We know that you want your yard to look nice. You want an open yard that is clear of all debris from trees. An ungrinded stump can be the most unsightly thing in your yard. Eventually, when you leave an stump in your yard, weeds, shoots, and moss begin to grow on and around the stump, which just makes it look even worse.

A stump can take up precious space in your yard. If you are thinking of expanding your flowerbed, or you want to have more furniture in your yard, a large stump will get in the way. If you want to do anything unique with your landscaping, a stump in the middle of your yard will make it practically impossible.

  3. Insects

Dead tree stumps are very attractive to insects. A stump will bring termites, wood boring insects, and beetles into your yard. While this may not seem like a big deal when they are in the yard, they can quickly move to your home. This could damage the wood and structural integrity of your home.

  4. Care

It is already difficult enough to care for your yard. Mowing the lawn and pulling weeds can be a real pain at times. However, when you are mowing your lawn, it is much easier when you can mow in a straight line. When you leave a stump in your lawn, you need to mow around the stump. A stump can really harm your lawn mower blade if you accidently mow over the stump.

Stump grinding is often done very quickly, and it prevents a number of future problems.  If you are planning on removing a tree, make sure that you choose a tree service company that also has stump grinding service. This way, you can remove the tree and grind the stump at the same time. Having a professional tree service team do stump grinding will ensure that it is done properly and safely. You can also trust that they will make sure that your yard looks nice after they are finished with their work.
